antique vase

I love the idea of mixing the old with the new. I even applied this kind of home decorating concept in my own home.  Overall, my home projects a modern look from the structure to the major furnishings and lightning fixtures.

But when it comes to the home décor accessories, I go for the vintage inspired decors like an antique table clock and antique vase. It instantly creates a different fusion of modern and old that defies but at the same time complements from one another.

ceramic vase

ceramic vaseWanting a great home make-over but on a budget? Why not consider accessorizing your home instead, to give it an instant new look without affecting your finances. Whether just by simply changing your pillow cases or adding a new swag in your current curtains to bring a little contrast; it’s the easy and inexpensive things like this that will surely do the trick.

Even a simple ceramic vase could enhance a plain corner in a living room and make it look fabulous. These days, we could always be clever to be able to achieve a desirable make-over with less money spending.

So Many Choices, So Little Room

Author: cerealbar

Whether you get a porcelain vase or a series of scented candles, decorating your home could put some long-missing character into it.  Of course, choosing the right décor isn’t necessarily rocket science, but it’s not exactly a walk in the park either.  Picking the right items to compliment your home takes time and a certain amount of effort.  For one thing, you don’t want to pick too many random items, lest you want your home to look like Redd Foxx’s in “Sanford.”  By settling on a theme for each room (or the house in general), you’ll have a good idea on which decorations and trinkets will bring your home to life.

Go Fab with a Vase

ceramic vases

Have you ever walked into a living room and just noticed that it didn’t feel like home?  Even if it was your own home?  The fact of the matter is that, most of the time, community rooms, such as living rooms, dens and dining rooms, need a little bit of sparkle to give it some attention.  Flowers could really solve that problem.  Now what kind of flowers you get – be it roses or dandelions – is up to you,  but you’ll want to get a good ceramic vase first.

If you pick out your vase, you’ll be able to determine which flowers would compliment your vase best.  After that, you can figure out the placement: coffee table, side table or mantle, for starters.  When you find the perfect spot for your vase, you’ll wonder how you had a living room without one.

Davidoff Cool Water

Author: cerealbar

Cool Water DavidoffAt this price this perfume is a great deal. I’ve paid far more than this in department stores, even in so-called outlet discount stores. When I add in more of my body care stuff and the votive candleholder I picked up I get the free shipping for all orders over $50. With a deal like that it’s hard to walk away from it. Fortunately, though, it was real easy for me to keep shopping!

The intuitive interface, clean site was easy to navigate and actually made shopping easy, pleasant and hassle free. Even having had to wait a few days was fine. I would have needed to go to half a dozen different stores to get the miscellaneous things I ordered. It’s just a huge savings all around when you consider the gas savings, the time savings and then the free shipping. The question becomes, why would you shop anywhere else?

Corner Tables a Steal!

Author: cerealbar

Table LampThis is an outstanding deal. I know in the past when I’ve gotten these from Ikea or somewhere similar I’ve paid upwards of $150. But these two are priced at just under $50 making them some of the most affordable home decor I’ve ever found. With the two colors available they can complement almost any decor. Modern or rustic, even European or East Asian, everyone could find a place for this pair. You can even match it with your favorite table lamp.

The great construction and easy to follow instructions made this an even bigger bargain. I’ve noticed in the past that when I buy stuff like this the quality can depend on the density of the wood. I know that won’t be a problem with my new tables. Take a look and see for yourself how you can save a bundle on home decor!

Magnetic DartboardIn our quest for “creativity,” are we obscuring the forest for the trees? Especially in the case of presents for kids.  You can buy a perfectly decent game of Magnetic Darts - a childhood fave of mine - for exactly $15.26  at AllHeartMemories.com. My daughter loves Candyland ($6.99 - often this goes on loss leader special, say $3.99, closer to Christmas) and Mickey Mouse Yahtzee (very educational, and only $5.99).  I bought my neighbor’s kid a Wood Brain Teasers Game Tin for $13.46  and it was his favorite birthday present.  He still plays with it over a year later.

I send a lot of gifts through the mail to friends and family who live far away. I’d like to see more suggestions for gifts that mail well and are not expensive to ship.

Children’s Books

Author: cerealbar

Animal Set Foam Board BooksI see a trend towards “quantity” presents: “take a tote bag and fill with books.”  Is there something wrong with giving a person only one book?  I don’t mean an old, mildewed paperback you picked up at a yard sale (presumably, you’re saving those for yourself and aren’t giving them as gifts, anyway :-)), but one that you thoughtfully chose and, I hope, got on sale or at a warehouse store.

On a related note, those without children may not realize that, like many other things in life, 99% of children’s books are garbage. Stores like this one are full of books worth buying at any price.   They have good toys and good quality children’s books there too.

Kitchen Decor Headquarters

Author: cerealbar

Dangling Mini PotsI’m a big fan of the kitchen and bath stores.  Both the specialty brick and mortar retailers and the places in the mall.  The problem is, though, they have stuff makred up so high it just makes me cringe.  On simple little seasonal decor items too, they show absolutely no mercy to your wallet.  As you can imagine I’ve been more than thrilled with my experience on your site.

For less than $20 I got the gorgeous Dangling Mini Pots for my kitchen.  For that price I can afford to pick some up as gifts too.  The whole decorative plates collection is impressive and has a little something for every decor.
